I am raising a minimum of £300 to help create a health and fitness clinic to help people from all ages increase their physical well-being and feel good about themselves.
My name is Isla and I'm a mum of three children. A few years ago I changed careers from banking to health and fitness because I wanted to feel better about myself after having my children. I soon realised there are many women who feel the same way and want to regain their fitness and feel fit and healthy. Many women are put off by intimidating gyms and expensive health clubs, and work hard in typically inactive jobs or just being a mum. I realised how difficult it is to be motivated to stay fit and healthy when you work hard all day and have a family to look after as well. I started to get asked if I could help these women get fit again by setting up fitness classes and personal training sessions. So I qualified as a Kettlercise Instructor and then Personal Trainer and set up my business. I found I really enjoyed coaching people and helping them feel good about themselves again. I also wanted to know more about the human body and other therapies so I decided to embark on a 3-year Fitness and Personal Training degree course at Southampton Solent University and recently graduated with First Class Honours. I have also completed a Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy and Corrective Exercise (Sports Massage) and I am about to start on a MSc in Functional Musculoskeletal Health course at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic. I have continued training people throughout the last 3 years and built up a strong reputation in my local town, which I now want to expand into other areas.
Why am I doing this ?
I am really lucky to be working in the health and fitness industry and helping people to get fit and stay healthy for life. It is so important in these times where we lead sedentary lifestyles and under so much pressure to work to be as active as possible in our free time to help us stay healthy. Unfortunately, many people spend a lot of time sitting and being inactive, which can lead to weight gain and poor posture. Some people also feel under pressure to look a certain way but can struggle to find the time, motivation or know-how to exercise or receive the most effective treatment.
IAM Fitness wants to spread the health and fitness message across as many villages and towns as possible. To do this we need to create a holistic and highly professional environment for our clients to receive their much needed therapy or advice. Therefore, our clinics will provide fitness and corrective exercise, soft tissue therapy and sports massage, physiotherapy, podiatry, non-surgical beauty treatments and private medical advice, a one-stop shop for all your physical health needs.
Where will your contribution go?
Funds provided will be used to purchase a pneumatic couch in order to practice manual therapies and for the safety and comfort of our clients.
Any addition funds will be used to create the pleasant, professional, and relaxing clinic environment. The approximate cost of setting up a clinic including renovation works is £15,000.00 so any additional funds will help enormously towards our goal.
We will aim to provide as many updates as possible of our progress in setting up the clinic - details of which can be found on our website, facebook page or blog.
A 'thank you' to you
Of course we will really appreciate your support in helping us achieve our goal, so we would like to provide a range of rewards for your contribution.
We are aiming to spread the IAM Fitness 'healthy' word, and the best way of doing this is to get you to sample our treatments and therapies. There will be a range of rewards on offer including free entry to our classes for small contributions.
However, if you can't get to us, we have merchandise with our lovely, bright logo on to send to you.
How to find us and keep up to date
Please see our website and facebook pages for regular updates:-

We would be so grateful if you could help spread the word and help us promote our goals:-

In fact, share it with everyone you know as we think it's a great idea, and the more people who know about it, the more likely we are to make this work out brilliantly.
And we know we said you don't need to give money to help us, but we'd love it if you did! Please sponsor us and help make this happen.

The Plans have been drawn up for the new studio at an initial cost of £540.00 ! Now it's a case of getting the building quotes together....
Once the studio is built which will hopefully be in October this year, it will be used for manual therapies such as soft and deep tissue massage, sports massage and rehabilitation conditioning. The studio will have specific equipment to aid the recovery of injuries caused by common dysfunctional movements such as repetitive strains, sports/exercise injuries, musculoskeletal complaints; frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, ankle sprains, lower back pain, sore neck and upper back, carpel tunnel syndrome to name but a few. It's important to help the client's back into a normal routine as quickly as possible. By coaching the client and providing everyday rehabilitation exercises, the complaint can be corrected relatively easily and quickly in most cases.
Of course the studio will be used for general personal training activities as well, including pre and post natal exercise, strength and conditioning, and exercise for medically referred clients.
Please help me raise funds for the clinic and I will happily reward you with a treatment of your choice.
Thanks for all the contributions so far :)
Thank you to my first very kind sponsor for yesterday's contribution of £180 ! Of course any contribution is gratefully received so please show your support in anyway you can.
One aspect of the IAM Fitness clinic is aiming to provide non medical treatments and soft tissue therapy for people that often seek help and advice from their Doctor for common orthopaedic conditions such as a frozen shoulder, tendinitis, shoulder impingement, tight muscles, lower and upper back pain, knee pain/injuries, ankle sprain etc, which often a GP may not treat. These conditions are affecting more and more people everyday and often a result of poor posture and daily inactivity. We can't solve every situation, but soft tissue therapy should be considered and tried first before considering surgery for any chronic conditions or acute injuries that affect muscles, tendons and ligaments. Being able to treat people with these problems and seeing them improve their physical wellbeing is very satisfying and I am proud to provide this service.
